Webcam Cover Review: Which Security Cover is Best for Your Business?
We’ve all heard the jokes targeting the “FBI agent in [our] computers.” But, jokes aside, our webcams are not secure. The NSA is not the only organization monitoring computer cameras, skilled hackers possess the same ability to access technology. PROMOrx offers several webcam security covers aimed at protecting users from surveillants.
Pros: As are all of the others, this camera shield is easily applied. You simply peel the cover and stick it onto your screen. This webcam cover is easily removed, just pull it back off of your screen. It never loses its “sticking” ability because, upon rinsing with water, the adhesive is reinforced.
This cover may also be used as a screen cleaner. Just flip the cover over, exposing the soft-sided cloth to the screen, and wipe away any blotches.
It does not interfere with the total closing of your computer and there is no risk of scratching. For branding purposes, you can completely customize everything about the Branded Webcam Cover and Screen Cleaner’s surface, so your logo is guaranteed to look great.
Cons: Personally, I have experienced no cons with product. It is my personal favorite of the four. The only drawback may be the time required to receive the Branded Webcam Cover and Screen Cleaner, so order early! The cover requires 12-15 business days for completion and shipment of the order.
Pros: This cover is easily applied. It is very easy to tab back and forth, and it has proven durable in the constant opening and closing of my computer (a MacBook Air). The Metal Webcam Cover has a relatively large branding space (proportionally) so users will be able to clearly see your logo.
Cons: This security tab is not easily removed from the computer once applied. While the metal composition is durable, it runs a higher risk of scratching your computer than the other options. It also prevents your computer from latching completely shut.
Pros: This plastic security cam cover is easily applied. It is very easy to tab back and forth, and it has also proven durable with constant opening and closing of my computer. It has a reasonably large branding space (proportionally) so users will be able to see your logo. There are three colors to choose from: white, black, and grey.
Cons: The Custom Webcam Cover is not easily removed from the computer. While the plastic composition holds up well, it similarly runs the risk of scratching your computer (although the risk is less than that of the metal version). This parallels the metal camera cover in preventing your computer from latching completely shut.
Pros: This cover has a unique circular build. It is easily applied and seems to be durable. Your business logo would be in the center of the cover, so it would be clearly displayed. The Round Web Camera Cover is offered in black and white.
Cons: As this shield is made of plastic, the scratch risk is still present. It also prevents your laptop from completely closing. This one may be a better option for your phone as opposed to your laptop or desktop computer.
Why should you choose a webcam cover to market your business? Well, the rise of these “FBI agent” jokes parallel a rise in sales of camera covers. With more people purchasing this product it is clear that these cam covers are in demand; and why not supply this demand with products promoting your company?
Webcam covers are small and relatively inexpensive which makes them perfect for mailings, trade show giveaways, college swag giveaways and job fair recruiting. “Practical” and “budget friendly” don't always go hand in hand—but these camera shields are great examples where they do.
Overall, each webcam cover serves its purpose and serves it well. Ultimately, my favorite of the four camera shields is the Branded Webcam Cover and Screen Cleaner because it functions as two products and is just more convenient in terms of application and removal. If you are searching for a practical webcam cover for you and your business, you cannot go wrong with any of these products.
